Employment Law & Human Resources Consulting
About Laura J. Hamblin
Laura Hamblin is an Arizona–licensed attorney with more than 25 years of experience working for three large corporate retailers; the Circle K Corporation, Albertson's, Inc./Albertson's LLC, and Sam's Club. Recently, she was employed by Yavapai College and Yavapai Regional Medical Center. Throughout her career, her roles ranged from in–house labor relations and employment lawyer, to human resources executive, to "hands–on" human resources generalist. She also worked in an adjunct faculty role at the University of Arkansas where she taught preparation classes for the human resources certification exam. For most of her career, she served as vice president of human resources responsible for all aspects of human resources for thousands of employees.
In addition to being licensed to practice law in Arizona, Laura sat for and passed bar exams in Idaho and Arkansas. After she returned to Arizona, she voluntarily changed her law license status to "inactive" in the other states.
Laura earned and maintains two professional human resources certifications: Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) and the national Society for Human Resources Management's Senior Certified Professional (SHRM–SCP). In addition to being a member of SHRM, she served on the board of directors at the Prescott Area Human Resources Association (PAHRA).
Laura's knowledge and experience proves invaluable when helping smaller employers comply with the multitude of employment laws and regulations. She understands that smaller employers often "don't know what they don't know" until they hear from a government agency or plaintiff's attorney pointing out violations of employment laws. Her objective is to assist clients to become legally compliant and gain adequate knowledge about the laws so they are able to recognize potentially problematic situations and ask for help before the government agency or plaintiff's lawyer knocks on the door.
